In this photo a Ring Billed Gull has found a tasty fish for breakfast and was working fast and furiously to scarf it down before others could swoop in to take it away! Greetings from The Shooting Nomads. During our lockdown phase we were blessed to be on the ocean front in a campground at Carrabelle, Florida. One of the most peaceful times of the day was watching the pelicans fly back and forth between piers in search of fresh fish. Greetings from the Shooting Nomads! Sharing with you a photo of a cormorant in action making a fish catch for breakfast. There were about 20 cormorants out on this lake. The cormorants dive to catch the fish. When they come up, they are ready for battle as the other cormorants quickly fly in to try to steal the fish away. A Little Nest Repair (863) It was nesting season for the Brandts Cormorants along the cliffs at La Jolla, San Diego, California. It was an exciting time for mating, nest building, laying eggs and defending ones territory. The nests had been made and the eggs laid. Then it was a waiting period for the loving couple. Fresh nesting material was frequently being brought in to freshen up the home and keeping every twig perfectly placed to protect the babies. Apparently I was a little near to his coveted spot and he made quite a bit of noise to let me know that I was crowding the favored spot for the after swim sunbathe location.
