  • Court of the Patriarchs

    Court of the Patriarchs

This is the Court of the Patriarchs in Zion National Park. One of my favorite places in the park, the three towers absolutely dominate the scene. It's a great place to watch sunrise or sunset, and this is the latter. It was extremely windy and a fleeting moment of beautiful light

  • The Pink Blush

    The Pink Blush

This image was captured towards the last day of our stay at Bishop. The skies had been mostly sunny but then the Weather Gods decided to smile as a weather system made it our way. Upon arrival, amazingly there were almost no cars in the parking lot and I had the place pretty much to myself. As the sun set this beautiful streak of clouds showed up from the west and turned an amazing pink.

  • Fall Glory

    Fall Glory

The weather had been bright and sunny almost every day since we got to Bishop. Finally, as a weather system came by the skies turned dark, overcast and gloomy. We finally got a break during the fleeting moments of sunset when the sky color matched the beautiful fall colors in the Eastern Sierra.

    Serenade

“May flowers always line your path and sunshine light your day. May songbirds serenade you every step along the way. May a rainbow run beside you in a sky that's always blue. And may happiness fill your heart each day your whole life through.” - Irish Blessings quotes⁣

    Millpond Sunset

A beautiful sunset at Millpond Lake as fall colors were in full glory.

  • The Gold Rush

    The Gold Rush

Our stay at Bishop was coming to a close and I had been patiently waiting for the weather to change so that there was more cloud action in the sky for a sunset shoot. Finally, a day before our departure the cloud patterns started looking promising so it was a mad dash to Mono Lake. It had been a couple of years since my last visit and the tufas can be over whelming from a composition standpoint. The sun was close to setting over the hills as I frantically searched for a composition I liked. This ended up pretty decent but dealing with sun flare was a significant challenge.

  • The Custodian II

    The Custodian II

This image is from my last year's visit to Crater Lake around late-June while there still a huge amount of snow and with most of the roads still closed. This Milky Way image from one of my favorite locations at Crater Lake. Not sure why it took me a year to process and upload. The MW is comprised of 10 images stacked in Starry Milky Way Stacker and the foreground was taken during blue hour.

  • The Grace of Snow

    The Grace of Snow

Several days of stormy weather ended with fresh snow added to the landscape. Early morning light graced Cerro Fitz Roy. The majestic mountain reflected in the small glacial stream presented a spectacular display of nature

  • The Glow at Mono Lake

    The Glow at Mono Lake

This is another image taken at Mono Lake during our stay in Bishop last year. As the sun set the clouds lit up as if on fire and the tufas were aglow as well with the red color reflected from the lake. A totally amazing moment in time I will cherish for a long time.

  • Peace and Serenity

    Peace and Serenity

This has been one of my favorite places to visit during our visit to Arizona this year. This place is especially beautiful after it has rained and the small puddles reflect Cathedral Rock. I was there for multiple sunsets and sunrises each time it would rain in the hopes of getting some action in the skies to complement the awesome Cathedral Rock monument and foreground. As luck would have it, I never came back feeling that I had achieved the killer shot I was hoping for. Eventually, as the weeks went by and March rolled on, the opportunity for a Milk Way shot also arose but as luck would have it, the skies turned overly cloudy and the reflection ponds started drying out. I finally did get my chance one night and the skies cleared up briefly. Most of the water puddles had dried out but this one was still holding on to its water. The sky is composed of 10 shots stacked with Starry Milk Way Stacker. The foreground was captured during the blue hour.

This is a 5 shot panorama taken in Torres del Paine during a beautiful sunset.

  • Millpond Sunrise

    Millpond Sunrise

It is amazing how many beautiful images our stay in the Eastern Sierras yielded last year. This one was taken at Millpond lake near Bishop, CA as fall colors were peaking.

  • After the Shower

    After the Shower

This image was capture during our drive on the Glenn Highway at Mentasta Lake. It had been raining heavily during the afternoon so we stopped for the day at a pullout besides the lake. The rain stopped briefly so I poked my head out wary of the mosquitoes that were hanging out in the thousands. The lighting was really inviting so I donned my mosquito net and stepped out warily. The scenery was so good that I momentarily forgot the bugs swarming around me and started shooting feverishly. The image did require a fair bit of cleanup during post processing due to a number of the critters flying in front of the lens.

  • A Schwabacker Sunrise

    A Schwabacker Sunrise

It was a beautiful and cool morning at Schwabacker Landing. It was amazing how many photographers were lined up to shoot that morning. Everyone one was so intent on setting up their equipment that no one noticed the moose passing by.

An early morning capture of the Three Sisters from Bow River. I think I like the B&W version better for this shot.
